Arrangement description

Tomasz Pągowski design for a studio apartment in Zabrze is a perfect example of how lighting and colours can transform even the most challenging interior. The apartment, located in a historic tenement house, was originally a narrow, multifunctional space serving as a hallway, kitchen, dining area, and office all at once. Today, it has been given a new lease of life through a thoughtful layout, subtle accents, and beautiful lighting that adds functionality. The involvement of the residents made it possible to create additional space – the office area was relocated to the attic, relieving the main room. Meanwhile, the hallway was expanded by shifting a wardrobe closer to the wall. Now, the kitchen is dominated by soft sea turquoise fronts, which blend perfectly with the wall colour and an extended stone worktop that provides extra workspace. The height of the interior allowed for the installation of a second row of hanging cabinets reaching all the way to the ceiling, significantly increasing storage space. The design is completed by distinctive wall tiles. Underneath the upper cabinets, the white PROFILE ZOOM LED spot lamps, designed for track lighting systems, subtly illuminates the decorative elements of the interior. The dining area charms with its harmonious blend of styles. A refurbished wooden table, paired with patterned retro chairs, is beautifully complemented by the Pumpkin pendant lamp in a silk grey shade, which works seamlessly with the exposed brick wall. In the hallway, a Soft LED lamp brightens the space from the entrance, creating an impression of openness. The designer, with a keen sense of style and respect for the apartment’s history, preserved original elements such as the antique flooring and fragments of exposed brick, seamlessly blending them with modern touches like black fittings and airy curtains in earthy beige tones. Lighting played a pivotal role in this project. The interplay of light creates a sense of spaciousness, giving the apartment a completely new character – friendly, cohesive, and full of life. This is one of those projects that proves beautiful interiors are made with light.
