Arrangement description

In a semi-detached house in Łowicz, the former garage has been transformed into a multi-purpose area for work and relaxation. In the premiere episode of the 9th season of the programme Remont u Ciebie, Tomasz Pągowski tackled a challenging interior and the needs of its residents. This space was intended to serve both as a comfortable office for a parent and a relaxed meeting area for a younger family member and their friends. The room’s technical history posed a challenge – the low ceiling, exposed services and garage-style window layout made the interior feel heavy and poorly lit. The key here was the deliberate use of colour and light. A dove-grey shade with a hint of blue on the walls and ceiling provided the space with a cohesive backdrop, whilst the services painted in the same colour emphasised the interior’s industrial character. The light-coloured floor paired with the darker ceiling improved the proportions and visually raised the ceiling. One of the most important aspects of the renovation was the lighting. The interior was fitted with a new electrical installation designed for the UT-LVM track system. The designer employed a layered lighting plan – general, task and accent lighting – which ensures functionality at all times of the day. Various luminaires were mounted on the tracks: linear lamps, adjustable spotlights, ring lights and pendant lights. The modular nature of the system allows luminaires to be easily reconfigured, their layout and direction of light to be changed, adapting the lighting to the current needs of users. The new functional layout has introduced a clear division of zones. An ergonomic workstation with a comfortable chair and a spacious desk guarantees comfort during office work. This zone is complemented by a Smart LED desk lamp, ideal for providing precise lighting at the workstation. In the relaxation area, a navy blue sofa has been retained in a refreshed version – enlivened by a mustard-coloured throw and seat cushions in the same shade. The built-in furniture also played a significant role. The revised layout of the shelves has improved storage organisation. Additional units made from MFP boards form a cohesive arrangement of geometric shapes, and one of the mobile units serves as a movable screen for the smallest window. The result is a flexible, comfortable space tailored to the daily rhythm of the household. Thanks to conscious design decisions, thoughtful visual treatments and a rail system, the challenging, technically complex interior has been transformed into a functional space for work and relaxation – conducive to concentration, socialising and positive emotions.
