Arrangement description

In Grodzisk Mazowiecki, just outside Warsaw, a terraced house home to a family of four has been transformed into a project that demonstrates just how much light and colour can change everyday life. The living room and dining area initially gave the impression not so much of being unfurnished as of being ‘unfinished’ – it lacked a cohesive atmosphere that the household could feel immediately upon entering. And it was precisely this ‘sense of emptiness’ that became the designer’s main challenge. Functionally, everything was in its place, but emotionally, the interior told no story. The residents, however, knew exactly what they wanted – they weren’t afraid of colour and were open to bolder suggestions. Pągowski therefore built the atmosphere from scratch, basing it on light, texture and a well-thought-out colour palette. A key element was the bio-fireplace, which brought natural warmth into the interior – exactly what had been missing before. The colour of the walls was defined as a deep ‘burgundy’ shade lightened with terracotta. Importantly, the colour does not stop at the wall – it also extends onto the ceiling as an accent above the table and creates a backdrop for the main lighting composition. Light plays a far greater role here than simply a practical one – it creates atmosphere, organises the space and highlights its character, helping to live more beautifully. Hanging above the table are lamps from the Singles in the Cameleon system – several pendants emerging from a single ceiling rose, positioned at varying heights. It is this element that created the ‘wow factor’, which the household members particularly appreciated. In addition, the Profile track system with PROFILE FOCUS LED movable spotlights was also used. Their purpose is to provide flexible lighting for the space – from the relaxation area in front of the fireplace to the pictures above the TV. The interior is complemented by refined details: a refurbished armchair with new upholstery, a beige bookcase, a rug and curtains that harmonise with the colour of the walls. Mirrors further open up the space and reflect light, enhancing the impression of depth. The whole is completed by a new, slightly curved sofa, which introduces a friendly and homely feel. The end result is a space that is no longer ‘merely functional’ but has become a place to live – warm, cohesive and full of light. It is also proof that a bold colour need not be overwhelming if supported by well-designed lighting and a thoughtful layout.
