Most interiors start with simple lines. Walls define boundaries, furniture organises space, and built-in elements follow right angles. This is natural – architecture is based on geometry, which makes the interior clear and functional.

But today, there is a clear shift towards curves in interior design. They appear in furniture, mirrors, headboards and kitchen islands. Sharp edges give way to soft lines, and spaces become more friendly and ‘human’, less schematic.

In this context, round lamps play a special role. How do they work in an interior and how should they be arranged? We sought answers in a conversation with Wiktoria Morawska from the Design Lab Nowodvorski Lighting department.

A circle that cooperates with a wall

Sometimes, a single element is enough to change the way we perceive an entire interior. In the case of ring-type wall lamps, the key feature is the light, which, thanks to the recessed bulb, softly spreads around the wall. This means that the wall itself ceases to be a background — it begins to contribute to the atmosphere.

In the Timber LED and Sunset LED collections, the material plays a key role. Plywood with a natural grain, stained in shades of brown, is combined with a black metal structure. This combination makes the lamps suitable for both modern interiors and boho-style arrangements.

‘The material is of great importance here. Wood softens the harshness of concrete, warms up cool colours and ties the arrangements together. It is an element that has a real impact on the perception of the entire space. Proportion is also important. A properly selected diameter makes the lamp look natural and become part of the arrangement,’ says Wiktoria.

During the day, they attract attention with their form and structure, serving as decorations. In the evening, they take on the role of setting the mood.

When light marks the centre

Everything becomes clearer above the table. This is where the life of the household is concentrated – conversations, meetings, daily rituals. A round lamp suspended in this area naturally marks the centre and organises the composition of the entire interior.

The Fourty Round model clearly shows how important the diameter of the luminaire is. A form that is too small will disappear in the space, while one that is too large will dominate and visually weigh down the interior.

‘The choice of diameter is a compositional decision, not just a technical one,’ emphasises the expert. ‘It affects how we feel at the table and how we perceive the proportions of the entire room.’

The Fourty Round lamp develops the minimalist, modern character of the Fourty series, this time in a rounded form. The collection includes pendant lamps and ceiling lamps available in two sizes, making it easy to match them to both smaller rooms and spacious, open living areas. The lamps are equipped with movable tubes that allow for precise adjustment of the light direction and adaptation to the function of the interior.

Composition in an open space

Light is particularly important in open living areas. It organises functions, guides the eye and unifies the living room, kitchen and dining room. Instead of a single central source, a well-thought-out composition works better – light tailored to individual areas.

‘The Circolo LED collection offers great freedom in this regard. The circle can become a strong accent above the table, but it can also be repeated in other parts of the space, emphasising cohesion. Different diameters and numbers of rings allow you to work with scale – subtly or more expressively,’ says Wiktoria.

Models from the Circolo Power LED line emit up to 2.5 times more light than the basic versions, which is why they work well as the main lighting in an open interior.

Textile softness

The trend for rounded shapes does not end with furniture. The soft lines of sofas and armchairs are increasingly complemented by fabrics that introduce visual warmth. In lighting, lampshades play a similar role – light, round, gently diffusing light.

‘The Santana, Amarela, Lago, Cedro and Turda models show how light works when enclosed in a textile shade. Instead of drawing sharp contours, it gently fills the space and creates a calm background. This effect promotes tranquillity, which is why lamps of this type are well suited to the living room, bedroom or relaxation area.’

Each of these lamps has been designed with subtle elegance in mind: stylish lampshades, distinctive diffusers and refined details make them ideal for modern classic arrangements, while in minimalist interiors they attract attention as unique decorative accents.

The circle as a decision for harmony

For us, light is more than just a function. It is a way to create a unique interior that is functional, atmospheric and full of character. Round lamps perfectly support this effect, softening the geometry and organising the composition. That is why they work so well in arrangements, combining aesthetics with a real impact on the perception of space.
